Launch of Advanced Power Electronics R&D

Tamura Corporation ("the Company") established the Advanced Power Electronics R&D organization (“Ad-PEL”), effective July 1, 2025. Building upon the foundation of the former R&D Strategy Division, which had been engaged in research and development of passive components (*) and related materials for high-efficiency, high-power, and high-frequency drive technologies, the Company has reinforced its organizational framework to accelerate innovation and further advance its research and development initiatives in anticipation of future societal implementation.

The Company has articulated its aspiration for 2050 as: “A leading company well recognized by global electronics markets to contribute to realizing decarbonized society.” Wide bandgap semiconductors such as silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) are expected to play a pivotal role in the realization of a carbon-neutral society through their application in power electronics. However, in order for these next-generation semiconductors to fully demonstrate their capabilities, concurrent advancements in peripheral device technologies are essential.

The Ad-PEL is engaged in the integration of technologies from the Electronic Components Business and Electronic Chemicals & Soldering System Business, while also pursuing strategic collaborations with universities and technology consortia. These initiatives are aimed at developing high-performance magnetic passive components—utilizing proprietary materials—that are compatible with next-generation semiconductors. Furthermore, effective October 1, 2025, the organizational structure will be further strengthened through the establishment of a marketing function within the Ad-PEL. This enhancement is intended to support market research for social implementation and to promote business expansion by leveraging existing sales channels in both the Electronic Components Business and the Electronic Chemicals & Soldering System Business.

(*) Passive components refer to electronic parts such as transformers, coils, capacitors, resistors, and inductors that consume, store, or release externally supplied energy.

【 Examples of R&D Achievements 】

Developed a proprietary composite multilayer substrate. When used as a substrate for gate driver modules, it enables power modules operating under high-voltage and high-frequency conditions to be driven with enhanced precision and reliability.

The Ad-PEL is committed to establishing a solid technological foundation to support the next 100 years of the Company, while also taking on the challenge of creating new pillars of business. In the power electronics market—expected to expand as efforts toward carbon neutrality accelerate—the Company aims to refine and deliver unique value that only Tamura can offer. Through this pursuit, the Company seeks to become “your one and only company” (Corporate Slogan) , continuously providing products and services that bring satisfaction and benefit to both customers and society.
