Animated Features on 2013 Cal Poly Rose Parade Float powered by AAD600S-6-P
Tamura Corporation of America donated an AAD600S-6-P to Cal Poly SLO for the 2013 Rose Parade.
TheTamura power supply served us perfectly! We designed a power distribution box around it, which provides power to each of our hydraulic values. Each of these valves takes 24V and up to 2A of current draw. The power supply ran for 4 hours during the parade supplying constant power to 10 of these valves, each valve controlling an animated motion on the float. However, we have designed the box to power up to 16 valves which can be swapped out each year.
The power distribution box containing this supply was powered from an AC generator running off of our float's V8 animation engine. The AC power input to the supply was between 100 and 120 volts at any given time, and the power supply never gave us a problem even under these conditions.
